Transport Information
At Jubilee Primary School, we are committed to ensuring safe, efficient and environmentally responsible travel options for all students and families. Below is an overview of our transport, pickup up and drop off procedures and initiatives.
Kiss and Go Zones-Manra Way Entrance
To support smooth and safe drop-off and pick-up, Jubilee operates designated Kiss and Go zones, including a key collection point accessible via Manra Way.
Guidelines for Kiss and Go:
- Be patient and courteous to fellow families and our neighbours.
- Do not park across roundabouts or driveways—this is unsafe and illegal.
- Adhere to speed limits at all times within school zones.
- Stagger your arrival time to reduce congestion. Most traffic clears before 3:00 PM.
- Display your laminated family name sign clearly in your windscreen to assist staff with student identification and collection.
- Prep and Year 1 students are dismissed at 2:45 PM to ease traffic flow; all other students finish at 3:00 PM.
Kiss and Go Zone – Binstead Way Entrance
Our Kiss and Go zone is located at the Binstead Way entrance and is designed for quick, safe drop-offs and pick-ups.
Key Guidelines:
- Remain in your vehicle—staff will assist your child in and out of the car.
- Display your laminated family name sign clearly on the dashboard to help staff identify your child quickly.
- Arrive at staggered times to reduce congestion. Prep and Year 1 students are dismissed at 2:45 PM; all others at 3:00 PM.
- Do not park or leave your vehicle unattended in the Kiss and Go zone.
- Avoid blocking driveways or roundabouts.
These procedures help ensure a safe and efficient experience for all families.
Active School Travel
Jubilee proudly supports the Active School Travel program, encouraging families to walk, ride, or scoot to school where possible.
Benefits of Active Travel:
- Promotes healthy habits and physical activity
- Reduces traffic congestion and environmental impact
- Builds independence and road safety awareness in students
If you live nearby, we encourage you to consider walking or cycling to school as a regular part of your routine.
Walking and Pick-Up Arrangements
At Jubilee Primary School, we prioritise student safety and community cooperation during arrival and departure times. Below are the key procedures and options available to families:
Walking to and from School
We encourage families who live nearby to walk to school as part of our Active School Travel initiative. This promotes healthy habits, reduces traffic congestion, and fosters independence in students.
Safety Measures for Walkers:
- Staff and volunteers supervise key pedestrian crossings during peak times.
- Students are taught to use designated footpaths and crossings.
- Families are encouraged to walk with younger children and model safe road behaviours.
Supervised Pick-Up Points
Staff are stationed at key collection points to ensure students are safely handed over to their parents or guardians. These include:
- Manra Way pedestrian gate
- Binstead Way Kiss and Go zone
- Bus collection area for students using school transport
Bus Travel
- Jubilee uses reputable bus companies such as Imperial Pacific Coaches for excursions and camps.
- All students are briefed on safe bus behaviour, including:
- Remaining seated at all times
- Wearing seatbelts (if provided)
- Keeping legs tucked in and facing forward
- Holding handrails when entering or exiting the bus
- Staff members are strategically positioned to supervise students during boarding, travel, and disembarkation.
Pick-Up and Drop-Off Procedures
- Staff exit the bus first to assess and guide students safely using designated pedestrian pathways and crossings.
- Teachers and bus drivers assist with luggage handling to prevent injuries.
- Students are instructed to walk calmly and avoid pushing when exiting the bus.
Excursion and Event Pick-Up
For school excursions and events, students are typically picked up and dropped off at the Binstead Way entrance. Staff supervise all transitions, ensuring students:
- Use pedestrian crossings
- Walk calmly and safely
- Are accounted for through headcounts at each transition point
Emergency Preparedness
- All excursions include a detailed transport risk assessment and emergency response plan.
- In the event of an incident during transport:
- Staff will administer first aid and contact emergency services (000) if necessary.
- Adequate staff are present to manage emergencies and ensure student safety.
- Emergency contact details for school staff, local police, and hospitals are documented and accessible during all trips.
Weather Considerations
- Transport plans account for extreme weather conditions such as heat, storms, and sun exposure.
- Students are advised to bring water, sun protection and appropriate clothing.
- In case of severe weather, activities may be postponed or cancelled to ensure safety.
